![]() Christmas Day DinnerFor over 10 years, Communitas has been hosting a Christmas dinner for approximately 40 people who have a mental and/or physical disability, and therefore, are marginalized by the community. Communitas takes special care to decorate the tables and tree, and make a homemade meal to recreate a warm, comfortable, home-like atmosphere. Games are played, songs are sung, and stories are told. As well, each person receives a special gift to celebrate the Season of Giving! HopeHope gives the opportunity to temporarily support people who are living with a disability and who have not been able to register in a funded program. Self-AdvocatesSelf-advocates is a group of individuals, who are living with disabilities, that meet regularly to plan different activities. They are very active in lobbying the government against abuse that people living with disabilities receive. |
